Meet Hector Saavedra, LMFT
ADHD Therapist in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Sometimes the problem has less to do with how hard you’re trying to fix it and more to do with how you’re trying to fix it.
If you’ve spent years overthinking, procrastinating, having a hard time staying on top of things, second-guessing yourself, or wondering why trying harder doesn’t fix the issue, you might finally be in the right place.
Hi, I’m Hector! I help adults make sense of their ADHD, build healthier confidence, and bridge the gap between who they are and who they want to be.
There’s a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from constantly feeling like you should be doing better.
More organized. More confident. More productive. More disciplined. Better at speaking up. Better at getting things done. Better at managing your time.
You can spend so much time trying to become the version of yourself you think you’re supposed to be that you lose sight of who you actually are, what you actually want, and how far you’ve already come.
After years of dealing with this, it can be hard to accept that the voices in your head may never fully shut up.
What you can control is how much you listen to them, and how you talk back.
I get it.
My Story
For most of my life, I was harder on myself than I needed to be. I was upset that certain things came easy to others, but were tough for me, and of course I never noticed when things did come to me naturally.
My tendency to procrastinate, forget things, and have strong emotional reactions caused me to judge myself constantly.
Then I was diagnosed with ADHD in my mid-20s.
My reaction was very mixed. I struggled to accept it because I had only ever heard ADHD mentioned as a bad thing or an “excuse”. At the same time, I couldn’t help but realize that it actually explained a lot.
The diagnosis didn’t magically change my life.
What it did do was give me a place to start. Instead of constantly asking myself, “What’s wrong with you?” I was able to finally start figuring out what I actually needed and what worked for me.
Realizing ADHD was an explanation and not an excuse helped me accept that it was okay to admit I had ADHD.
That’s why this work is personal for me. I've been there, and I know how different things can feel when you stop seeing yourself as the problem.
How I can help:
See the Bigger Picture
There’s a big difference between knowing something is difficult for you and understanding why.
Therapy can help you take a step back, figure out what’s really going on, and understand yourself without immediately blaming yourself.
Trust Yourself
Stop letting self-doubt make the decision for you.
In therapy, I will help you learn to trust yourself, speak up, set boundaries, and take chances even when you’re not 100% confident.
Find What Works
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for managing your life.
Therapy can help you figure out which size fits you best.
We’ll find what works, what doesn’t, and what makes you be more proactive and less overwhelmed.
Make Changes
Understanding yourself is a start, but the goal is to actually do things differently.
In therapy, we’ll work on turning insight into action.
That might mean communicating more directly, setting boundaries, starting tasks you’ve been putting off, or breaking patterns that aren’t working for you.
Understanding why you do what you do can be a huge relief, but the goal isn't just to understand yourself better.
The goal is to figure out what to do after you understand yourself.
Values I promise to bring to the therapy room:
Patience
Change and therapy can be scary.
I’ll meet you where you are.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy, and you don’t need to be ready to change everything at once.
We’ll move at a pace that challenges you without making you feel rushed.
Collaboration
There’s no one right way to do therapy, because there isn’t one right way to be a person.
I’ll bring my experience and perspective, but I won’t pretend to know you better than you know yourself. Together we’ll figure out what’s worth working on and what approach makes sense for you.
You know your life, I bring the clinical experience. We’ll combine the two.
Genuine Connection
You don’t have to worry about saying the “right” things or giving me the answers you think I want to hear.
I’ll be genuine with you, ask questions, share my perspective, and have honest conversations, even when they’re uncomfortable.
Therapy should feel like a safe conversation, not another test or performance.
Vulnerability
Opening up about what you’re struggling with isn’t always easy; being vulnerable takes courage.
You don’t have to know exactly what to say or be ready to talk about everything right away. We’ll build trust over time and get to the harder conversations when you’re ready.
I don’t expect you to drop your guard while I keep mine up. I’ll be genuine with you, not just ask you to be genuine with me.
